A celebration of the Spring Equinox, Ostara is a time of balance, tipping points, fertility, and creativity. As the cold and dark of winter begin to melt away, we see the world blossom, the sprouts pushing through the soil, the pollinators are all abuzz, and the air is full of birdsong. We honor this point in our cycle around the sun where, just for a moment, the sun and stars equally share their time lighting the sky. And we celebrate the beginning of the light half of the year and all the vitality it brings with its warmth. Ostara is named for the Germanic spring goddess Eostre , goddess of the dawn, fertility, and rebirth. At spring equinox she and many versions of the Spring Goddess are celebrated for awakening the creative forces within plants, animals, and people.
