Litha
The holiday of the summer solstice, Litha is a time of revelry and brightness celebrating the longest day and shortest night. Mythologically, it marks the end of the rule of The Oak King as he is overtaken in his semi-annual battle with The Holly King, and so the nights must lengthen from now until Yule. Litha shares many traditions with Beltane, including bonfires, and communing with the fae. It is a time to celebrate successes in the here and now and to expand upon what is already going well in life. Celebrating the peak of summer and giving thanks for the gifts of light and warmth from the sun, we also call to the darkness to bring back balance to the world in this time of intense heat.
